Bathroom renovated

Finally the first floor bathroom is finished after a renovation that turned out to be a bit more of a challenge than we - or the mason - anticipated. But it's done now, and we think Sergej has done a fabulous job. Main result: tiled walls and a floor that actually keeps the water in the shower!

And to make it even better, wonderful photographer Mona - who did our website and the first photo shoot of the guesthouse - came back to take pictures. It looks good, doesn't it?

First guests settled in the apartment!

After a hectic period of renovation, shopping and decoration we have finally got the apartment ready, and our first guests arrived last weekend. There are still a few details to sort, but we are quite happy with the result and hope our guests are too! Here are some shots to give you an impression.

Come to Bergen for the International Festival!

The period of the International Festival is always a festive time in Bergen and a very good time to visit. There are lots of things going on - in the streets as well as in the theatres - and the weather is generally good (although you never know in Bergen ...).

The 2012 programme has just been launched. Between 23 May and 6 June there will be plenty of amazing things to see and hear all over the city. Check it out here:

Something new on the breakfast table

A recent visit to South Africa - and in particular to La Rose B&B in Cape Town - has inspired us to try and make our own granola. This recipe is the only one we have tested so far, but it has been a hit both at home and at the guesthouse. Yummy!

Apartment rates

The downstairs apartment at To Sostre, available from January 2012, will have two double beds: one in the bedroom and one (sofa bed) in the living room. The rates will be:

Winter (1 November-30 April)

• NOK 1000 per night
• NOK 4000 per week

Summer (1 May-20 September)

• NOK 1500 per night (three nights minimum stay)
• NOK 6000 per week
